Experience

Station Chief, Sky Observation Events — TÜBİTAK

  • Technical and operational owner of telescope stations — setup, optical alignment, maintenance and observation flow, keeping events running without interruption.
  • Delivered sky presentations to broad audiences of every age and level, translating technical astronomy into public language backed by live observation.
  • Work recognised at TÜBİTAK and Ministry of Industry and Technology level; astrophotography and the AstroCom project supported by institutional management.

Founder & Community Lead — AstroCom

  • Ran public observation nights with up to 300 participants and telescope workshops, in partnership with municipalities, ministries, universities and science-and-art centres (BİLSEM).
  • Organised open conferences and live streams with figures including ISS flight controller Göktan Yılmaz, Assoc. Prof. Hasan Hüseyin Esenoğlu and Assoc. Prof. Selçuk Topal (Oxford), Türkiye coordinator of the Rubin First Look event.
  • Brought AstroBot under the TÜBİTAK umbrella as one of its two active developers — a RAG knowledge base answering astronomy questions accurately.
  • Organised Istanbul’s first astronomy festival at Rami Library with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Industry and Technology.

Originator & Organisation Lead — "Türkiye Is Looking at the Sky"

  • Proposed and led a national observation day held simultaneously in all 81 provinces.
  • Designed participation kits, organiser guides and social content so local teams could run their own events independently.

Astronomy Teacher Trainer — Rami Library & Istanbul Provincial DNE

  • Trained 75 teachers over six weeks, designing the curriculum and observation practice of the Astronomy Teacher Seminars (AÖS) programme — content the trainees carried into their own classrooms.
  • Ran children's astronomy workshops for the Rami Summer School with hands-on observation and simulation-supported teaching.

Astronomy Teacher — Lider Eğitim & Açı College Summer School

  • Taught ages 6–14: astronomy lessons, telescopic solar observation and sundial workshops producing concrete artefacts children keep using after class.
  • Mentored a primary-school team at TEKNOFEST through project writing, execution and presentation.
